Lookbook is the largest global online style community but, of course, we didn’t start that way. We were a small, novel website inspired by the efforts of fashion lovers in all corners of the world. From the site’s humble beginnings out of a small apartment in San Francisco, California, our desire was for Lookbook to be a platform that could empower these people. While we’ve had success in accomplishing this, we know we can do better.
One thing we want to change as of today is the amount that we, the Lookbook team, communicates with our community. In this first of many messages, we want to share our mission:
“Lookbook’s mission is to help people share their personal styles.”
This is our underlying purpose that inspires us to improve Lookbook.
We also want to take this opportunity to share our core community values – a set of ideals that drives the Lookbook team and makes a community like ours strong: diversity, respect, and authenticity.
Diversity – As a global community, we strive to bring people together from a wide variety of backgrounds to spark creativity and inspiration. Whether you’re a full-time blogger or a 9-to-5 office worker, you are welcome here. Lookbook is a place for fashion lovers from all walks of life.
Respect – Expressing your personal style with the world can be terrifying, sometimes. Please be considerate when interacting with other members of the community. If you see something you like, leave an encouraging comment. Criticisms, if any, should always be constructive. Abusive behaviors of any sort will not be tolerated.
Authenticity – Share your passion with the community. When posting a look or leaving a comment, be genuine about it. You’ll be surprised who you’ll meet along the way. You might make a friend for life. 😉
To all of you, old and new, thank you for making Lookbook the wonderful community it is. In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing more updates here on the forum. Feel free to share your thoughts, as we’d love to hear what you have to say. Thanks for reading!
